    Since reading use of weapons 6 years ago he has been my favorite writer and his books have blown me away without fail. I watched and read his interviews with delight and he is a truly fascinating and talented individual and many lives will that much more colourless without him in the world.

    NO....it can't be! Someone told me at work this morning and I went straight onto the BBC website to find out it was true. Devastating news.
    Heads held high chaps, proud to be a fan. At least he'll leave behind a remarkable collection for future generations to enjoy.

    I heard this on the car radio on the way home from work and it was like being punched out of the blue. I have the utmost respect for Iain as an author and a man, and love the typical black humour of his message. All very best wishes to him and his family.
