    I just saw this on Facebook, so hoped for an April Fools' that I'd noticed a day or two late but.....

    Tragic. I am quite shocked.
    I don't really know what to say. Iain, Your books are the most emotional I've ever read. Would be a catastrophic loss to the sci-fi world.

    I'll try to look upon it as sublimation rather than death.

    I'm a long time fan of the books and I'm a fan of TMH.

    That's different from knowing him of course, I wish you Iain all the best, to you and yours, in this coming difficult time.

    Shocked and emotional.

    Just heard the news on BBC World Service.

    I only got to know Iain's Culture series with SD and they are the absolute finest science fiction novels I ever read.
