Thread: Author Iain Banks has terminal cancer

    Mr. Banks left a huge void. It was through Surface Detail that I started reading science fiction again after fifteen years. Somehow I had managed to avoid the Culture and British science fiction during the nineties. Iain's Culture novels eclipse practically all American science fiction I read in my youth.

    Last week, I ordered some Alastair Reynolds novels to attempt to fill that void.

    RIP Iain M. Banks.

    The Revelation Space trilogy and the first novel from his current trilogy, Blue Remembered Earth.

    Revelation Space itself was pretty good, I also enjoyed House of Suns
