To those of you who say that ' Transition ' could or should have been written as part of the ' M ' series because of its sci fi connection , have you read David Mitchell's ' The Bone Clocks ' ? Mitchell's novel was short-listed for the Man Booker Prize which if I'm not mistaken does not include any works of the sci-fi nature - ' The Bone Clocks ' while a great book in its own right contains very similar ideas to that of ' Transition ' , whether intentional or not , therefore there's no reason why ' Transition ' should be classified as an ' Iain M Banks ' as there are no rules as to what a book of fiction must contain - if The Bone Clocks is a work of fiction then so is Transition .
