Well, I'll have to read "Transition" as soon as possible.

    Nevertheless, Deep Black,
I shall think of you as "Archimandrite Luseferous", until I have read the novel in question.

All in good fun of course, unless I somehow end up as an upside-down punching bag, in which case I reserve the right not to be highly amused.

I voted Matter. I know this is going to be an unusual vote in this forum but it's the book I enjoyed reading most.

Come on fellow forum members. The moderator was kind enough to set up a new poll. How about voting. I'm sure it will only take a minute or two from your otherwise incredibly busy day.

Fuck yeah. At least regarding his SF. (I haven't read any of the non....I'm just not really interested...). So, yeah, Excession. Player of Games and Surface Detail close seconds.

U of W for me but I enjoyed to some degree all of the others. Even Transitions!

Player of Games, closely followed by Surface Detail, The Algebraist and Use of Weapons.

I have a thing for Feersum, it's the only banks book that I've read at least 4 times. When you finally get your head round it all it just blows you away. That scene when Asura is stuck in the tower as a princess ready to eat the poisoned apple, then found herself ice skating was like WTF, this is not science fiction, then after turning the page and it gradually sinks in about where she is and whats going off around her just knocked me for six ... probably one of the most influential chapters I've ever read. Even though the Culture books are my most treasured books, I have to say hats off to Mr B & Feersum for frying my brain with butter and serving it up with chips and elephants.

Use of Weapons. And having just finished SD looks like I'll have to read it again
