    Thumbs up At the Movies

Recent films you saw, cinema, DVD, video, download (or what ever you kids are into these days)

Saw the new "The Day the Earth Stood Still" at cinema the other night. Not bad, some nice stuff in there but a few niggles too.

Saw the original 15 years or so back & can't remembe it all that well.

    Over all 6/10

I remember the original very well. Klattu(?) the metal robot came out the spaceship and when he walked there were creases at his knee joints!!
Just watched 'Elf' on TV, a good family movie. Not been to the cinema for ages and the last DVD I watched was Sin City.

Iron Man was the last film I saw and enjoyed at 'The Pictures', but have watched a heap of stuff via Sky Movies, including Cool Hand Luke which I watched for the seemingly dozenth time recently, but found I'd never watched the start at all. There's a whole sequence of stuff that I just don't remember. Possibly old age, tho'.

Watched Bad Santa on tv on Friday night. Unexpectedly funnier and better.

    Gort is the robot, Jag.

Eventually got to go see the new Jimmy Bond last week, and thought it was superb stuff.

Watched The Dark Knight dvd on Saturday and it was as good a I remembered, with Ledger towering over the entire movie- and in a film that has Morgan Freeman in it, that's no mean feat.

My partner had never seen Borat- so we watched that last night- through our fingers most of the time- especially during the toe-curling dinner party!

"Klattu barada nikto" was the phrase he told the woman to say to Gort.
