Sounds fun - and ambitious.

Alex Davis no longer works for the Council, having moved into publishing in Nottingham. However, the event is expected to continue in some form on an as yet to be decided date, as this post (http://en-gb.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=37208173504&topic=5540) indicates. Whether it will be any good without Alex' involvement is another matter.

Yeah, shame Alex has moved on. Still I hope the new lot will make it bigger & better.

It's been a while since Alex moved on & we've not heard much since.

Hopeully that's just because they are all hard at work on it...

This year's event has been cancelled but will hopefully return next year bigger and better. Details over at the BFS (http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=180:alt-fiction-alt-not&catid=10:non-bfs-events&Itemid=11)

Hmm, shame, but if all goes ahead as planned it could be good in the future

Anyone heard more about this?
The latest I've seen is:

That seems quite definitive, although I'll wait for the official announcement before I start making any plans. And I hope they keep it mid month, too many of these things seem to happen during my busy period in work towards the end of the month.

Oh look, there's a new website (http://altfiction.co.uk/home).

Ahhh was thinking about that recently. Not much in the way of news on there is there? Still it looks like progress. I hope the line-up comes together well for 2010.

Going by the map, are the QUAD and The Assembly Rooms the same place, or are they next to each other?

QUAD is directly opposite the Assembly Rooms, a purpose-built arts centre

It's more artsy & a lot smaller, never actually been in, I'm told they have real ale of tap

The bar's run by Coors. I wouldn't get too excited.

I imagine alt.fiction would use one of the cinema auditorium as the 'main hall'. Would certainly be a better setting than the Darwin Room.

Surely still better than the Ass Rooms though?

But when you've got the 'annex' just up the road - I mean the Flowerpot - it's all academic :-)

Yeah fair enough, have you visited the new Silk Mill back bar yet? Pretty decent.

Looks like they are starting to build a line-up, no-one I know much about on so far though

If you still have the previous programs check in those, most of them have been to the previous ones.

Deep Black

Yeah I recognised a few faces

Bit of a revamp to their website
http://altfiction.co.uk/

But still not much news & the names aren't all that inspired as yet

On again this year & it's 2 days with some other writing events through the year.

25th & 26th June 2011

I'm hoping for a stronger SF line up this year
