I often check what Lance Armstrong is up to but who the bh is interested in what I'm up to? I suppose it caters for the compulsive texters out there. Genuine question Jesra: why?

My life isn't interesting enough for a blog / facebook, so Twitter is a misser for me.

I use Twitter to update my status on Reluctant Scooper (http://www.reluctantscooper.co.uk/)

I thought this was going to be about birds. :o
In my defence, it's due to the fact we've had an invasion of twitchers in the street in the last week because waxwings have been spotted in the area and it's a very rare occurrence.

HU, fair question and I'm not entirely sure. I've been following Mark Chadbourn's twitter for a while and also Darren T's. Mark suggested I join so I did. I may not continue with it for long but it's quite fun. I'm no blogger or compulsive texter (I haven't linked it to my phone) and twitter isn't a blog as it's much briefer. It's more like the 'what are you doing right now' thread from the old forum. Or even 'what are you thinking'.
Redking and HU, with the stuff you post here I'd follow your twitter :D
Hadds, I'm following you now.

There's one person who podcasts, and I like her podcasts, but following her on twitter is just annoying. And now most of her blog consists of transcripts of her twitter stuff. Because the posts are so short and a la minute (as they say in the kitchen) there's just no thought that goes into them.
It can be fun, I suppose, to "see" what a famous person thinks about in the daily round, but I sure don't want my life that exposed. Who knows who's going to see and misinterpret that stuff? There's a reason for not telling your mother everything.

You flatter.
No harm in giving it a go I suppose - I'll take a peek next time I check on Lance Armstrong.
Something I've been meaning to ask: where does the "disrepdog" moniker come from? Is it short for disreputable dog? btw if you google it the profile page of this site tops the list.
Pffft!
I haven't enough time to play with my facebook account as it is, without opening one of these too!

You can set twitter so only people who are following you can read what you put and you can block people you don't want. My jury is still out on it atm.
Disrepdog does indeed come from the Disreputable dog, a character from Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy who I really like. It kind of works on another level as I work at an animal rehoming centre with lots of disreputable dogs. ( and that's just the staff :p)
I googled disrepdog - how scary is that
Cool that this place comes up tops :)

Stephen Fry was going on about this last night on 'Friday night with Jonathon Ross' saying people were 'following' him.

I'm on twitter (badams), and on facebook, and linkedin, and I blog (three blogs actually), and I'm active on a multitude of other social media sites.... Then again, I do this sort of thing for a living. :)

Actually once you get the hang of it, it takes surprisingly little time. There are lots of tools that link these social media sites together, so for example a new blog posts automatically becomes a tweet and a facebook link. I have to say though, RSS feeds are my salvation.

Anyone know if TMH is planning on joining Twitter?
