Iain Banks was in the list of writers announced for the Ullapool Book Festival 2010. The festival runs from Friday 7th May to Sunday 9th.

The full programme will be announced on 20th March 2010 in an event at Ullapool Village Hall.

The festival website is http://www.ullapoolbookfestival.co.uk/2010festival.htm but there are no details about Iain's appearance there yet.

That says: "Both Iain Banks and James Robertson will be giving exclusive readings from new works". I expect that Iain may well read from the new book at Eastercon before then.

That's only an hour or so from us- so I'll definitely be attending this one.

Iain seems to be writing at a fair speed these days.

The new book that is due in the shops in September should be finished by Easter. Iain dropped out of Pcon7 (1st weekend of March) as it ended up being during the time he was setting aside to write the book, but is still going to Eastercon (1st weekend of April). Hence my assumption that it should be finished by Eastercon and if you go there you might get a preview. Things might still change.

rac I hope you already have your ticket! My work scheduled changed so I was beginning to think I could make it, but the website says that the Iain Banks event has sold out.
