Bob Dylan - Idiot Wind.

They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.

This morning I woke with this in my head:

I'm moving on alone over ground that no one owns
Past statues that atone for my sins

Gotta be Brain Dance by Annihilator:

I dropped out of the rat race
I just needed a break from it all
And now I live in the country
With the birds and the bees and these bright white walls
Let me introduce you to some friends of mine
They're so polite and they dress so fine
Sometimes they take me for a walk in the sun
I get to play in the grass 'till I'm done

Brain dance
Brain dance
This is brain dance
Watch my brain dance

I'd like to call myself an artist
My toe paintings are just the best
But when my feet get tired
I lose the crayon and get some rest
I've got a feeling there's a fish in the floor
I'd better squish it or he'll swim out the door
Sometimes they take me for a walk in the sun
I see my fish and I have to run

Brain dance
Brain dance
This is brain dance
Watch my brain dance

Rubber shoes, a dirty sock
Plastic toes and it's my pet rock
And this song is very silly and it makes no sense at all because
it's weird
Out of the pan and into the fire and back in the pan again
He jumped out of the frying pan, into the fire and he's back again
He jumped, what?, yes he's jumped and he's flying through the air
He jumped out of the frying pan, into the fire and he's back again
Let me introduce you to a friend of mine
She's been here for quite some time
Sometimes we go out for a walk in the sun
To walk with Alice is always fun

were all I loved you for

The whole of Billy Bragg's A New England (http://www.kirstymaccoll.com/music/lyrics/a_new_england.htm)- as sung by the wonderful Kirsty MacColl, talking of whom:

There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis
Just like you swore to me that you'd be true
There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis
But he's a liar and I'm not sure about you

and In These Shoes (http://www.kirstymaccoll.com/music/lyrics/in_these_shoes.htm) is a great song, always makes me smile.

That's my stock reply to requests - "What? In these shoes? I don't think so..."

It fits for most examples.

I love these lines from Wandering Star:

Do I know where hell is, hell is in hello,
Heaven is goodbye forever, it's time for me to go.

Not that I'm unsociable or anything. :D

One I heard recently - 'Gordon Is A Moron', by Jilted John:

(having been ditched by the duplicitous Julie)

"I was so upset that I cried all the way to the chip shop."

Ohhh, yeah. I had to find a photo to make sure he wasn't that daft act with the big papier mache head.

Surely that should read "... few more depressing sights than a fat sweaty druggie in a pork pie hat" or was that written by Docherty? ;)

Good one Red.

In light of the recent financial crises is a song by Julian Cope written 10 years ago called 'Greedhead detector' about the captains of industry and all the fatcat trappings and how the banking system will implode (Cope is a visionary, I kid you not)
At the gig the audience pogoed wildly and chanted the lyric.

'Fuck fuck fuck you, fuck fuck you, fuck you fuck you'.

It's from a song of mine.
I was looking thru an old lyric book last night and there it was.
Thank you.
