I miss the old forum. This new one, as great as it is, just seems to be us old guys going over the same old ground and how we found the same old fears,wish you were here,.

Give it a chance, old bean. It's like moving to a new local after your old haunt gets overrun by raver kids or preppy sports club students... always takes a while to get the vibe back.

Yes - there are quite a few new members registered already, but only a few posts so far. I also think we won't see too much till a new book is on the way. I for one didn't get into any great discussion about Matter due to the cloud hanging over the old forum.

The oldest post of mine I can find is from Feb 11th 2003 (coincidently that is also my daughters birthday, albeit same of 2008)

The oldest post on there I can find is 26th Sept 2002

The time and date of the most recent post are listed at the link into each thread, as I had the page permanently open and often refreshed all I had to do was hit the back button to check the most recently cached top page, and there was me listed.

I now claim (pointless) bragging rights and associated smugness :-)

I agree, a new book will excite interest but when you look at the polls for m and non-m favorite books they do tend to be the earlier works. It'll rouse some sort of debate no doubt, but hopefully not just the I-liked-your-old-stuff-better-than-your-new-stuff negative vibe. Just have to wait and see....

I think the new forum was necessary in order to make it connected with the new site. The previous forum was something of a seperate entity.
