Ok, here is a comments and review thread for the upcoming Doctor Who special "Planet of the Dead", starring David Tennant and co-starring Michelle Ryan. It will air in three hours, forty minutes, and counting. :D

I heard Russell T Davies talking about it the other day and he sounded so bloody pleased with himself I wanted to slap him. Still, I will watch, but probably on watch again rather than 'live'.

Apart from the grating "Lara Croft" overtones, it was OK. Better than the last one, that's for sure.

Not the best DW every, I felt it suffered from the Russell T Davis problem of running a little long.

It was all right - but I've voted good. Lots of standard RTD characters in there.
I liked Michelle Ryan, which I wasn't expecting.
The flying bus was crap though.

Was better than most - the I'm-just-a-jewel-thief-for-the-fun-of-it & Mission Impossible bits were annoying but the alien swarm was quite good.

I was into the plot right up to the moment when the fly started talking and someone in the room went "What's that Skippy? Uncle Wayne's fallen down a mine shaft?". LOL.

It could have done without the flying bus

This was the best RTD script since "Turn Left" after the critic proof nonsense with Davros and the serviceable but not brilliant 4th Christmas Special. Michelle Ryan is hands down the hottest companion we've had so far, not a strong an actress as Catherine Tate, but she was easy on the eyes in spandex and leather. Lee Evans seems well suited to small roles in quirky sci-fi movies and stuff (like The Fifth Element). Overall less disappointing and stale than Back to Earth (due to Doug Naylor not moving on, unlike Davies).

What's with the Doctor falling for people since becoming a Tenant?

He's still got one heart left to break, right?
I didn't mind the bus.
I'm of the opinion it was there to excite fans during the run up to the episode, because Iris Wildthyme (yet another renegade Time Lord/Lady who appears in the novels) travels around in a double decker bus.

Why do all these Time Lords travel around in stuff from late C20?

Yeah... it's an odd one that, isn't it..!?

Must be something to do with the Time Lords limited FXbudget ;)

Why do the vast majority of Time Lords speak English and have upper class South Eastern accents?

Same reason most aliens speak English (or at least American English)

Even Christopher Eccleston? As he told Billie Piper when she said "Are you really from another planet? You sound like you're from the North", "Most planets have a north..."

Vast majority not complete monopoly.

Vast majority not complete monopoly.
Monopoly. rofl.
But ... a planet might well not have a North magnetic pole, but it would still normally have a geographical North I'd imagine.
