For some reason I called the radio in my car today a 'RECORD PLAYER'....Ha Ha Ha, how the troops fell about the place.....'Record player?' we haven't heard that in ages...:o

I still have one. It's handy for playing my eldest the original versions of songs she thinks were written 5 minutes ago...
Wireless now takes on a different meaning, Internet rather than radio, now too.

I still have (& even occationally use) a record player.
I mentioned "Frogger" on a driving lesson the other day, in reference to someone trying to cross the road. My pupil didn't have a clue what I was on about

We had one of those OV. 'Propelling pencil'. Remember those 'Pop-a-point's?. It was a must have writing implement of the early 70's.

I put the blame on VCR...
On a similar thread, several songs date themselves by now obscure references - the Police sing about getting back "LP records and they're all scratched". The Adam Ant riff about writing stuff on a "Pound Note" is more obscure in England than in Scotland, of course. :D

I still talk about "dialling numbers", even though I haven't used a telephone dial for at least twenty years; and yesterday I actually used the words "give you a tinkle" when arranging to call SWMBO on her mobile. I occasionally make reference to "watching something I taped on television", even though it's on a hard disk.

Given up explaining to my kids what 'go spend a penny' is all about. Still say it though.

The B-side is now obsolete as CDs have only one side.

What's so dated about pound notes?
I still get Bank of Scotland £1 notes, and £100 notes. Something else you don't get in England.
I love to take a bundle of real money back down South with me to confuse the sassenachs, £1 are especially good for this sport.
Act all annoyed and insulted at their stupid racism, etc >:-)

I did say that it was more obscure in England than in Scotland. I have a bunch of Scottish notes, easy to pass them off in shops, but they once only gave you 90p in exchange for them...

I mind when 50p used to be referred to as ten bob.

5p a shilling
Remember when taking an empty fizzy juice bottle back to the shops got you 7p?

I only ever got 5p!!!
Actually, does anyone ever say 'Telephone' or 'Television' anymore? With us, it's the 'phone' or the 'TV'.

Surely not? Maybe not so much on drinks cans but very much in use on soup tins and the like.
